Mrs. Jennifer Crawford
Hi! My name is Jennifer Crawford. I have been teaching here since 2001. I was a 1st Grade teacher until 2012 and now I am presently a 3rd grade teacher. I am honored to have this teaching position in such a great district! My husband Matt attended 7th and 8th grade at Germantown before going to Metamora for high school. I grew up in Peoria and attended District 150. After high school, I received my Associate’s Degree in Elementary Education from Illinois Central College, my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Eureka College, and my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Illinois State University. I continue to take graduate courses to enhance my teaching.
My husband Matt and I have two little boys, Andrew and Justin.
Andrew is a twin, but his little sister Katherine was stillborn. They were born on St. Patrick’s Day! Another son, Nicolas, was stillborn in January 2010. We also suffered a miscarriage in August 2010. I tell you this because all children are precious and I hope that in some way I can help anyone else who has gone through these trials. Andrew is 5 and has started Kindergarten this year and Justin is 1 year old! Andrew was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes—Insulin Dependent in July of 2009. Andrew, my husband Matt, and two of Matt’s sisters are Type 1 Diabetics. We are active supporters of JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). We also have many nieces and nephews. One nephew Austin (Crawford) is a Senior this year and attends Metamora High School and when not playing football, he loves to hang out with Andrew and Justin! They are great buds!
As a family, we enjoy many activities. Many times you will see us at Metamora football games. Even though we currently live in Washington, my husband played football for Metamora and he is a Redbird at heart! Our favorite thing is to hang out with our family. Being a Mom and Dad is great! We also like to go to movies when possible, go to air shows, and watch NASCAR—rooting for Jeff Gordon! Traveling is also another one of our favorite things. We like to explore the United States…so far we have been to Colorado (Denver and the Rocky Mountains) Washington D.C., Gettysburg, Myrtle Beach, Virginia Beach, and the Mall of America (just to name a few)!
My passions in life are spending time with my family, reading, and teaching! I enjoy collecting teddy bears and “old” books.
