Reading
Reading Book: We spend approxiametely 1 week on each story in the Reading book. We read and review the story, vocabulary words, and comprehension questions often. At home, your child should be reading the story and discussing with you the details of the story to make sure s/he has a thorough understanding of the story. The Reading test is at the end of the week (usually Friday).
Novel Units: When we are reading a novel, we do so as a class, with partners, and at home. We review vocabulary and comprehension, talk about "colorful language" and other words that are interesting. At home, you and your child should be rereading the book. I will give you the assigned chapters and ask that you have them completed by a certain date...usually the day of our chapter(s) quiz.
